As a Lucky Style Spotter, I recently got the chance to check out Lands' End Canvas, a collection catering to the slightly more urban and hip Lands' End customer. After perusing their sizable selection of classic, affordable clothes, I ordered two items that offered endless styling possibilities - an oh-so-soft pullover sweater in navy and a cheeky plaid scarf. Both proved to be high-quality pieces with an emphasis on stylish detail; I instantly noticed the pullover's perfectly boxy fit and cozy fabric, as well as the the scarf's quirky pleats.

The short-sleeve sweater called for some layering action, so I tossed it on over a button-down shirt. While I love the timeless plaid-and-khaki look, an edgy twist - in the form of leather gloves and platform heels - was exactly what this preppy outfit needed!

I bought this green army jacket from Zara years ago, so I'm thrilled that military-inspired jackets are one of this season's must-have items. This jacket has always served as a versatile layering piece for me; I've thrown it on over floral frocks, skinny jeans and tees, even little cocktail numbers when I want to dress things down. But for a cool day in Los Angeles, there's no outfit more effortlessly comfortable than this jacket layered over soft cotton basics with a hint of red plaid.

Roxy Rocks

The other day I received a Roxy catalog in the mail and was surprised to find myself flipping through it and actually liking some of the clothes! I always thought the brand was aimed at California surfer girls and as I'm not a surfer or particularly athletic at all, I wasn't interested in buying their board shorts or swim gear. But I have to say that Roxy does make some fun, youthful clothes, perfect for a ski trip at Lake Tahoe! Here are some of my favorite looks:

Roxy "Lucy" -- sweet pea jacket, peppermint sweater, and strawberry-colored jeans

Roxy "Stargazer" -- holly bomber jacket, oryan shorts, suspenders, and boots

Roxy "Strawberry Fields" -- hat, kennedy swing jacket, york top, and wide leg jeans

Roxy "Wonderland" -- snow bunny jacket, kacey tank, hat

The plaid jackets, checkered shirts, big scarves, fur-trimmed hoods, colored jeans and thermal leggings mesh well together for winter. Obviously the shorts and mini dresses aren't really practical for snowboarding up at Tahoe, but perhaps you can slip into them while warming up by the fire.
